Basic White Bread
(makes 1 loaf)

1. In a little bowl add water and yeast, give a pinch of sugar.
Let mixture set for 5 minutes. If it does not foam your yeast is not active
|
|
|
|
| 2. In a sauce pan
add milk, butter, sugar and salt. Warm on stove until
butter is melted (not to hot) Let milk cool until you can
put your finger in with out burning it. 3. In big bowl add milk and yeast mixtures together. Start with 2 cups of flour, mixing in one cup at a time. Keep adding flour until it makes a soft dough, but not sticky. It takes about 2 1/2 to 3 cups total of flour per batch. |
| Let rise
in bowl, push down, then form in to what you are making
and let it rise again. Put where it is the warmest spot to rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes Hints: This makes a small batch of dough if you want a lot, just double it. When I first started I would make each batch separate. If you want you can add a tablespoon of oil. For sweeter bread add more sugar, or use honey instead of the sugar If the milk is to hot it will kill your yeast. I also use bread flour it helps make a fluffier bread. |

You can use the same sauce pan for the cake and the frosting,
as they have the same ingredients.
This is a real moist and flavorful cake, one which my family
likes very much.
